Argall TV Report: Supporting Long-Term Care Centers

PINE GROVE – The February edition of the local TV program hosted by Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) highlights a recent press conference and tour held at Providence Place Senior Living in Pine Grove.

At the press conference, Argall introduced three bipartisan pieces of legislation to update training procedures and break down employment barriers so more people can join the long-term care workforce.

“Too many of our families have faced the difficult decision of moving a beloved parent or grandparent into a long-term care center,” Argall said. “Both of my parents required this kind of help toward the end of their lives, and I cannot be more grateful to the professionals who made sure that they were cared for and respected.”

The number of Pennsylvanians aged 65 and older is expected to double by the year 2040. Despite the sharp increase in this population, labor statistics revealed that from 2019 to 2022, Pennsylvania saw a 14% decrease in long-term care professionals.

“This legislation is essential,” Argall continued. “In a time of increased partisan gridlock in Washington D.C. and Harrisburg, the strong bipartisan support these bills have already received gives me hope that we can get them to the Governor’s desk – the sooner, the better.”

During the event, Argall was joined by Rep. Jamie Barton (R-124), Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-125), and David Leader, the President and CEO of Providence Place Senior Living. Leader is the son of former Pennsylvania Governor George Leader, who held office in the 1950’s.
