Argall expresses concern over elections at Department of State budget hearing

HARRISBURG – At today’s budget hearing for the Department of State, Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) expressed his concerns if Pennsylvania will be prepared for the 2020 elections.

Argall addressed a question, referencing a recent Time News article on how Carbon County officials have concerns, to Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar on whether she believes this year’s elections will go smoothly for counties.  She assured the Appropriations Committee that the State Department has been rigorously prepping and fully expects that Pennsylvania will be prepared.

Argall chaired a hearing of the Majority Policy Committee earlier this year that focused on the election.  When he directed a question to the Deputy Secretary for Elections and Commissions about how prepared Pennsylvania would be for 2020, the Director predicted no major issues.  County officials were less enthusiastic and held serious concerns.
