Senator Argall Announces Funding for Spring Ridge Transportation Project

HARRISBURG – Spring Township in Berks County will receive a state grant to aid in a transportation project to support the Spring Ridge development, according to Senator David G. Argall (R-29).

The $520,000 grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) will finance significant roadway and signal improvements to Broadcasting Road, near the 103-acre development site. The development will feature new housing, retail space and offices for Reading Hospital.

The transportation grant is part of the first phase of developing the site for future employees and employers.

“This is an exciting opportunity not only for Spring Township, but for all of Berks County,” Argall said. “The Spring Ridge project has been a top priority for the community, and I am thankful this funding will play a key role in ensuring traffic can flow through the area without creating a danger to motorists and pedestrians.”

The grant was awarded as part of DCED’s Multimodal Transportation Fund program, which provides funding for a number of infrastructure improvement projects, including roads, walking and bike trails, rail, traffic safety, public transportation, and air transport.
