Hearing Planned on Bills to Prevent Negligent Property Owners from Participating in Tax Sales

HARRISBURG – The Senate and House Urban Affairs and Housing Committees will hold a joint hearing on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Harrisburg to examine legislation that would prevent negligent and unscrupulous property owners from buying new properties at tax sales.

The hearing will be held in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building in the state Capitol.

The hearing will focus on Senate Bill 775 and House Bill 1559, legislation that would require all potential bidders at tax sales to pre-register prior to a tax sale. The bills would prevent negligent property owners from accumulating new properties by using corporate names and other loopholes to existing state laws.

Testimony and additional information about this hearing will be available on the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing webpage here.
