Argall Announces Significant Increase in Public School Funding Across Carbon, Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties

HARRISBURG — Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) announced today the recently approved 2026-27 state budget includes significant funding increases for schools in Carbon, Luzerne and Schuylkill counties. In total, school districts in the 29th Senatorial District received almost $39 million more than in the 2025-26 state budget.

“I’m thankful this final budget includes funding to provide a quality education to our students,” Argall said. “Parents, students, teachers and school administrators from across this Senate district have shared with me how important these dollars are.”

Carbon County

Jim Thorpe Area School District — $162,956 increase (2.1%)
Lehighton Area School District — $964,696 increase (6%)
Palmerton Area School District — $465,299 increase (4.1%)
Panther Valley School District — $2,201,447 increase (10.1%)
Weatherly Area School District — $181,411 increase (3.2%)

Luzerne County

Crestwood School District — $1,247,009 increase (9.5%)
Hazleton Area School District — $13,942,545 increase (13.2%)
Wilkes-Barre Area School District — $9,479,702 increase (12%)

Schuylkill County

Blue Mountain School District — $634,445 increase (4.7%)
Mahanoy Area School District — $539,458 increase (4.1%)
Minersville Area School District — $1,140,967 increase (9.1%)
North Schuylkill School District — $1,191,510 increase (7.3%)
Pine Grove Area School District — $410,196 increase (4%)
Pottsville Area School District — $1,754,370 increase (6.9%)
Saint Clair Area School District — $557,373 increase (8.3%)
Schuylkill Haven Area School District — $261,101 increase (2.8%)
Shenandoah Valley School District — $1,253,282 increase (8.1%)
Tamaqua Area School District — $1,660,638 increase (10.3%)
Tri-Valley School District — $515,435 increase (7.4%)
