HARRISBURG — State grants totaling more than $1.6 million were awarded to communities throughout Carbon County for key projects today. Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122) worked with local leaders to secure this funding.
“Towns and neighborhoods in all corners of Carbon County will benefit from this funding,” said Argall.
“These investments reflect our commitment to strengthening the backbone of our communities,” Heffley said. “Whether it’s supporting our volunteer fire companies, upgrading critical infrastructure or preserving local landmarks, this funding will help ensure a safer, stronger and more vibrant Carbon County for years to come.”
Bowmanstown Borough, on behalf of the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, was awarded $100,000 to construct a new fire house.
Kline Banks McAdoo Regional Authority was awarded $105,000 to replace outdated equipment at the wastewater treatment plant in Banks Township.
Lansford Coaldale Joint Water Authority was awarded $480,000 to complete a water line replacement along Abbott Street in Lansford.
Lower Towamensing Township, on behalf of the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, was awarded $50,000 to purchase emergency response rescue tools.
Palmerton Borough, on behalf of the Palmerton Library, was awarded $468,000 to repair masonry and replace windows at the library facility in Palmerton.
Parryville Borough was awarded $300,000 to construct a municipal and emergency services building in the borough.
This funding was awarded through the Statewide Local Share Account program, which distributes gaming revenue to economic development projects.
Additionally, Towamensing Township was awarded $150,000 to support upgrades at the Towamensing Township Little League Complex through the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program.
The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program supports the development, rehabilitation and improvement of public parks, greenways, trails and other recreational spaces.
The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
