HARRISBURG — State grants totaling $385,000 were awarded to communities throughout Luzerne County for key infrastructure and recreation projects today. Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Jamie Walsh (R-117) worked with local leaders to secure this funding.
“Towns and neighborhoods in all corners of Luzerne County will benefit from this funding,” Argall said. “I am pleased that these major infrastructure and recreation projects will receive this critical funding.”
“This funding is vital to help maintain safe and secure infrastructure in our communities,” Walsh said. “I look forward to seeing the finished projects and applaud the good work of our local governments to address these needed improvements.”
Penn Lake Park Borough was awarded $250,000 to rehabilitate the Penn Lake Dam and spillway. White Haven Borough was awarded $135,000 for streetscape and Delaware and Lehigh Trail upgrades.
This funding was awarded through the Statewide Local Share Account program, which distributes gaming revenue to economic development projects.
The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
