The October edition visits the beautiful small town of Jim Thorpe for the Carbon County and Beyond Regional Tourism Summit Update event. In the summer of 2023, Sen. Argall and Rep. Doyle Heffley hosted the first Carbon County and Beyond Regional Tourism Summit at the historic Mauch Chunk Opera House. At that event, the 70-plus participants learned that tourism and its very significant benefits – while welcome – are impacting parking, traffic congestion, and housing affordability for Jim Thorpe residents. Participants also learned that encouraging visitors to check out surrounding communities could be the solution to these problems, but only with the appropriate planning and investments.
