HARRISBURG – Counties, school districts, hospitals and others would receive critical state funding immediately under a bill approved by the Senate Tuesday, according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29):
“As negotiations continue on a final state budget for fiscal year 2025-26, Senate Bill 160 would provide funding at the levels included in the final budget for fiscal year 2024-25,” said Argall. “If the House of Representatives also approves Senate Bill 160, the state can immediately begin disbursing nearly $47.6 billion, without the need for any new taxes.
“This bill would provide stability to our community partners who receive state funding. Today’s vote marks a commonsense step forward as we work to protect taxpayers from the massive tax increases or cuts to key services that would result from the governor’s proposed budget.
“Many of the line items in the budget are not in dispute, so this is a responsible way to ensure that counties, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, social service providers and other entities receive immediate funding to meet their fiscal needs.”
