Argall TV Report: Revitalization Efforts in Downtown Lehighton

HARRISBURG — The August edition of the local TV program hosted by Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) highlights ongoing revitalization efforts in downtown Lehighton.

Argall and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122) recently toured several businesses that received support through the borough’s Façade Grant Program. This initiative was made possible by a 2024 $250,000 state grant secured for the borough by Argall and Heffley. Lehighton Borough Manager Dane DeWire led the tour along with Borough Council President Dave Zimmerman and Councilman Joe Flickinger.

14 facade improvement projects along First Street and Stanley Hoffman Boulevard received funding, with awards ranging from $7,700 to $37,500. The façade grant covered 90% of each project’s total cost.

“At a time when we are encouraging visitors to Carbon County to explore Jim Thorpe and the county’s other towns, these grants made a big difference,” Argall said.

Upgrades included fresh paint, new windows, updated siding and replaced awnings.

“The transformation is remarkable — especially when you compare the buildings’ before-and-after photos,” added Argall. “Breathing new life into a community in this way brings new energy to the area for residents and visitors.”
