Argall Report: Alvernia Revitalizing Downtown Pottsville

POTTSVILLE – The February edition of the local TV program hosted by Senator Dave Argall (R-29) features the recent opening of Alvernia University’s new downtown Pottsville location, the Pottsville CollegeTowne.

“This new college campus is just the latest positive development for Pottsville, including the new businesses that have opened their doors and the sixty new upper floor apartments in development at the Schuylkill Trust Company Building at Centre and Market Streets,” Senator Argall said.

Senator Argall, State Representatives Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Joe Kerwin (R-125), and Congressman Dan Meuser (R-PA 9) worked together to bring millions of dollars in state and federal funding to many of the revitalization projects in downtown Pottsville including the new college campus.

With strong bipartisan support from the city and county government and Alvernia University, the Pottsville CollegeTowne campus hosts a modern wet lab, a computer lab featuring Bloomberg Terminals, an anatomy science lab to support the university’s health care and nursing programs, and ten state-of-the-art classrooms to support the campus’ 13 Bachelor and 5 Graduate degree programs.

“Congratulations to all involved who turned this dream into a reality”, Senator Argall continued. “Pottsville is living proof that when a community works together, positive results happen. With several new businesses, restaurants, microbreweries, and now a new college campus, Pottsville is the prime example of a community on the comeback trail.”
