Schuylkill County Legislative Delegation to Discuss the Future of the Schuylkill River

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – Senator David G. Argall, Representative Tim Twardzik, Representative Jerry Knowles, and Representative Joe Kerwin will host a public roundtable discussion on August 10 to discuss actions needed for the ongoing restoration of the Schuylkill River.

“The transformation of this waterway, which was once clogged with raw sewage and acid mine drainage, into the resource we enjoy today is entirely the result of efforts from volunteers and public officials who shared a vision for a brighter future,” said Senator Argall. “Now, we need to discuss the next steps to ensure the environmental and economic health of this river for decades to come.”

“It is imperative that we continue to work on restoring and revitalizing our Schuylkill River,” said Representative Twardzik. “The delegation will continue to work with stakeholders to look for ways to continue to get the job done of preserving the river for generations to come.”

“Continuing the restoration of the Schuylkill River solidifies the future of this great resource for our communities,” said Representative Knowles.

“The revitalization of our Schuylkill River contributes to the economic impact and our community,” said Representative Kerwin. “With organized efforts to continue to enact change, this will ensure an environmentally healthy region which will allow for a strong Schuylkill River for future generations.”

The roundtable will take place at the Schuylkill Haven Recreation Center on Tuesday, August 10 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The roundtable will feature officials from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, and Schuylkill River Greenways. The public is invited to attend.
