Argall’s monthly TV show showcases region’s mining heritage

COALDALE – The latest edition of Senator David G. Argall’s (R-Schuylkill/Berks) monthly television show takes viewers on a tour of the No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum.

The December edition of the Argall Report explores 160 years of mining history at the oldest continuously operated anthracite coal mine in the world. The show also includes a look at some of the most interesting tools of the trade that are on display in the museum.

“In just a few short years, a group of dedicated volunteers has turned a long-abandoned coal mine into a site that now draws almost 10,000 visitors to the region each year,” Argall said. “Many of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers worked in mines like this, and I think viewers will be interested in taking a step back in time to learn more about our region’s mining heritage.”
