Argall votes in favor of historic pension reform

HARRISBURG – Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) released the following statement regarding the Senate of Pennsylvania overwhelmingly approving public pension reform by a vote of 38-12.

“The Senate took a major step today to protect Pennsylvania taxpayers by approving public pension reform with strong bipartisan support. One of the major cost drivers for school district budgets is rising pension costs. These costs are passed along to taxpayers through increases every year to school property taxes. I’ve said it before: like our counterparts in the private sector, state government has to make adjustments to our pension systems and reduce the risk to taxpayers. Today’s vote is a step in that direction.”
