Senator Argall Sworn in to Serve Second Term in Senate

HARRISBURG – In front of family and friends, Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill) was sworn in to serve his second term in the state Senate this afternoon at the state Capitol.

Argall, who was recently appointed Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, reflected on several key issues.

“We have enacted new laws to help communities large and small throughout Pennsylvania to eliminate blighted properties,” said Argall. “I look forward to working with downtown advocates to help build stronger, more vibrant communities throughout our region and state that will attract job creators and families alike.”

The new legislative session brings renewed hope to enact school district property tax elimination, according to Argall.

“We worked hard on property tax elimination this past year and this year is no different,” said Argall, who introduced Senate Bill 1400 last session and plans to reintroduce a similar proposal with bipartisan support. “Over 70 grassroots taxpayer groups from across Pennsylvania support this much-needed legislation. The forthcoming legislation will address concerns raised by the Independent Fiscal Office to ensure we achieve a dollar-for-dollar match to fund public education while eliminating this hated tax once and for all.”

Argall was first sworn into the state Senate on March 17, 2009.

The 29th Senate District Argall represents includes all of Schuylkill County and parts of Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.
