MAHANOY CITY – Senator David G. Argall (R-29) today announced the creation of a new website designed to serve as a one-stop shop for individuals involved in the fight against blight and abandonment. The site can be accessed through Senator Argall’s homepage: www.SenatorArgall.com or visitors can directly access the site by accessing: https://www.senatorargall.com/fight-blight/.
On April 25, 2011, Argall’s Neighborhood Blight Revitalization and Reclamation Act went into effect, and the priority now is to get the information out to those fighting blight in their communities.
“We created this site to continue our efforts to educate Pennsylvanians that powerful tools are now available to reverse the spread of blight in our communities,” said Argall. “This new act has been called a ‘potent array of weapons to use against absentee landlords,’ but without information, this act cannot be put to good use; that’s why we created this site.”
Tamaqua Borough Council President Micah Gursky, who recently shared his community’s revitalization efforts at a public meeting at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Tamaqua, said that the website will be an asset for local governments.
“The website Senator Argall’s office created has the ability to reach every community throughout the state. I look forward to sharing information on how we can eliminate blight in our local communities to make Pennsylvania a better place to live and work,” said Gursky.
The site contains proposed anti-blight legislation, resources and guides from various organizations that address current law, sample local ordinances, and news from throughout the state on ongoing efforts to fight blight.
