Argall, Heffley to Hold Public Hearing on Property Tax Reform

LEHIGHTON – Senator David G. Argall (R-29) and Representative Doyle Heffley (R-122) are holding a public hearing on property tax reform.

The event will feature members of the House and Senate Policy and Finance Committees to discuss various plans to reduce and eliminate property taxes as well as steps the General Assembly took this spring with property tax reform initiatives.

“Representative Heffley and I have legislation that will allow voters to decide on property taxes. We want to hear taxpayers’ ideas and how they would like to reform this archaic system to fund our public schools,” said Argall. “We are bringing in various members from the General Assembly to listen and discuss proposals as well as shed light on measures we have taken this year.”

Heffley continued, “Everyone is affected by property taxes. We want to hear the input of taxpayers on this important issue. This hearing will serve as a great opportunity to learn and listen about property tax reform and allow the public to participate in our democratic process. Senator Argall and I believe hosting this forum in Carbon County will allow our colleagues in the House and Senate to hear the same sentiments about property taxes that we have heard loud and clear.”

The event will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, 1:00pm at the Lehighton Borough Annex (110 North 3rd Street, Lehighton, PA 18235) in the 1st floor auditorium.
