Senator Argall to Host Residential Electric Consumer Forum, March 18

HARRISBURG – As a result of requests from local residents at several of his recent “town hall” meetings, State Senator David G. Argall (R-29) will host a forum titled: “How to be a Smart Electric Consumer,” at the Schuylkill Training and Technology Center, 101 Technology Drive, Frackville, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010.

The forum, offered free of charge, will feature a variety of exhibitors from state, local, county and nonprofit agencies offering information to reduce residential energy costs.

“The rising costs associated with energy consumption have caused many Pennsylvanians to learn more about energy incentives or renewable energy programs,” said Argall. “Gaining an understanding of the newest opportunities has the potential to save hundreds, if not thousands, in energy costs each year. This forum will provide an educational opportunity for renters and homeowners alike,” Argall noted.

Scheduled speakers include:

  • Christina Chase-Pettis, Senior Communications Specialist Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
  • Sonny Popowsky, Pennsylvania Consumer Advocate

Additionally, several electric companies will be on hand with information to assist homeowners or renters concerned with residential rates and/or energy efficient programs or ideas.

For additional information, those interested in attending can contact Marybeth Dougherty in Senator Argall’s District Office, (570) 773-0891 or via email at mdougherty@pasen.gov.
