Supporting Veterans in Jim Thorpe

Thank you to the hundreds of veterans from across the region who came to our recent Veterans Expo in Jim Thorpe.

Thank you to Congressman Ryan Mackenzie, Rep. Doyle Heffley, and Carbon County Veterans Affairs for co-hosting this event with me.

Connecting Veterans with Resources in Pottsville

I was recently invited to attend the Second Annual Veterans Awareness Fair, hosted by Schuylkill Community Action, at Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne to thank our local veterans for their service and sacrifice.

Seth Hubler from my office was on hand with information for veterans and their families. Thank you to Lisa Grigalonis and her team for putting on this important event.

Argall Report: Supporting PA’s Veterans

A recent edition of the Argall Report focuses on a very important issue: supporting Pennsylvania’s veterans.

Earlier this year, I chaired a Senate hearing highlighting programs that help connect veterans with health care and meaningful employment. As Brig. Gen. Mark Goodwill of the Pennsylvania National Guard shared, the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs continues to do incredible work helping service members transition home. Helping our veterans find stability is the least we can do after their sacrifice.

January 27: Veteran Service Officer Day

My office hosts monthly Veteran Service Officer Days to help veterans and their loved ones navigate and apply for benefits earned through military service.

Our next scheduled date is Tuesday, January 27th, in my Mahanoy City Office. For an appointment, please call (570) 773-0891.

Attention Veterans: Shenandoah Valley Sports Locker & Veterans Support Fund is Here to Help!

The mission of the Shenandoah Valley Sports Locker & Veterans Support Fund is to assist Schuylkill County veterans facing immediate hardships, including overdue utility bills, late rent or mortgage payments, unforeseen car expenses, or food insecurity.

Veterans seeking assistance or more information about available services are encouraged to contact the Schuylkill County Veterans Affairs Office in Pottsville at 570-628-1400.

Thank you all for undertaking this incredibly impactful work on behalf of local heroes.

Valley Forge Military College Provides Opportunities for PA Students

Many opportunities are available for young Pennsylvanians interested in education, leadership, and military service through Valley Forge Military College (VFMC) — The Military College of Pennsylvania.

VFMC partners with state legislators to help students in our districts through several programs. Legislators can nominate qualified students for these programs.

  • Keystone Scholarship – A half-tuition grant worth up to $26,000 per year for students who’ve faced academic challenges but made meaningful contributions to their communities.
  • Military College of Pennsylvania Educational Assistance Program (MCAP) – In partnership with the PA National Guard, this program offers full tuition, room, and board for students who earn an associate degree, receive a commission in the Guard, and later complete their bachelor’s at any PASSHE university.
  • Service Academy Preparation Program – Designed for students aspiring to attend a U.S. Service Academy, with coursework in STEM, cybersecurity, leadership, and fitness.

These programs provide incredible opportunities for students to pursue higher education, develop leadership skills, and serve their communities—all while strengthening Pennsylvania’s future workforce. To learn more or apply, visit vfmac.edu.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Provides Comprehensive List of Veteran & Military Discounts

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides a comprehensive list of veteran and military year-round discounts. To learn more about the discounts you may be eligible for, click here.

Supporting Veteran-Owned Businesses

To promote veteran-owned businesses, the Senate passed Senate Bill 64 requiring the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to create a logo that can be used by Pennsylvania businesses with at least 51% veteran ownership to designate themselves as a veteran-owned business to the public. With Senate Bill 64, DMVA will also make a database available on its website of veteran-owned businesses that applied for and were approved to use the logo.

The bill was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Helping Disabled Veterans Enjoy Outdoor Activities

All 100% disabled veterans in PA would be eligible for free hunting licenses under legislation passed by the Senate. If enacted, the bill would close a gap in state and ensure fair treatment for those injured in any service-related capacity.

The bill was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Veterans Discount on NFL Sunday Ticket

Veterans are eligible for a discount of almost 60% off for NFL Sunday Ticket through ID.me. NFL Sunday Ticket gives fans the ability to watch their favorite NFL team’s out-of-market Sunday games, enjoy unlimited streams at home, view key plays and watch up to four live games on one screen in multiview.
