Senate Policy Committee to review PennDOT’s commitments regarding local highway funding

BLANDON –The Senate Majority Policy Committee will review regional highway funding during an upcoming public hearing at the Maidencreek Township Municipal Building in Blandon.

“In the past decade, many promises were made by PennDOT to the people of Berks and Schuylkill Counties,” said committee chair Senator David G. Argall (R-Berks/Schuylkill). “Now, rather than focusing on local projects, PennDOT has decided to shift funding from our local priorities to the interstate highways.   If these trends continue, we could lose $124 million previously promised by PennDOT for our local highways and bridges.

Expected panelists for this workshop discussion include officials from PennDOT, representatives from the federal and state governments, area planning organizations and other groups directly affected by the new funding shift.

The Senate Majority Policy Committee will conduct the workshop on Thursday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Maidencreek Township Municipal Building, 1 Quarry Rd., Blandon, PA 19510.
