Sen. Argall: Independent study of and suggestions for PASSHE deserve public review

HARRISBURG – The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (LBFC), chaired by Senator Bob Mensch, voted today to release a comprehensive report on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, according to Senator David G. Argall (R-Berks/Schuylkill).

After the release of the LBFC report, Senator Argall released the following statement:

“I want to thank the LBFC and the Rand Corporation for completing this much needed independent study, as required by Senate Resolution 34. Now the House and the Senate and all of our state’s universities must carefully consider each possible option which the study has presented to us. One conclusion is crystal clear: The status quo regarding our state system universities is unacceptable.”

Background:

Senator Argall sponsored Senate Resolution 34, which required an independent study of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The resolution was unanimously approved by the Senate on April 18, 2017.

The Senate and House Education Committees will hold a public hearing to review the LBFC report on April 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the state Capitol.
