Argall, Knowles Announce Energy Efficiency Grant for Local Business

HARRISBURG – State Senator David G. Argall (R-29) and State Representative Jerry Knowles (R-124) today announced that a Schuylkill County firm has been awarded a grant from the Department of Environmental Protection under the Small Business Energy Efficiency Grant Program.

Highwood USA, LLC will receive a $10,801.20 grant to purchase and install energy efficient lighting to conserve energy.

"The Small Business Energy Efficiency grant highlights the Commonwealth's commitment to alternative energy," said Argall.  For many businesses to stay competitive, given current economic conditions, they need to make these kind of green energy investments.  I am pleased Highwood USA was able to receive this important funding," Argall added.

"I am pleased to see one of our local businesses using this program," said Knowles.  "This program is a true win-win.  Small businesses are able to reduce their energy costs at the same time they are reducing Pennsylvania's energy demand."

The Small Business Energy Efficiency is a new grant program which grew out of the Alternative Energy Investment Act of 2008.  It provides a 25 percent reimbursement grant, up to a maximum of $25,000, to enable Pennsylvania small businesses to acquire certain pieces of equipment that promote energy efficiency.
