Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Waives Fees for Duplicate Motor Vehicle Products

In an effort to help ease the already traumatic experience of flooding, PennDOT has partnered with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to provide direct assistance to customers affected by recent flooding. A listing of affected counties is available at the PEMA website.

Fees for flood victims in these areas will be waived for duplicates or replacements of the following products which were destroyed by flood waters: duplicate vehicle titles, duplicate registration cards, replacement license plates and stickers, replacement disability placards, duplicate driver's licenses and/or identification cards, duplicate driver license or photo identification camera cards and duplicate learner's permits.

Also as part of the Governor's response to flood damaged areas in the commonwealth, effective Sept. 8, PennDOT has authorized an extension of the expiration dates for licenses, identification cards and vehicle inspections/registrations. The expiration date for vehicle registration and inspections scheduled to expire on Sept. 30 has been extended until Oct. 14. The expiration date for driver licenses and identification cards scheduled to expire between Sept. 8 and Oct. 13, has been extended until Oct. 14. Only those customers in areas identified by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) as having been affected by flooding are eligible for the extension. Please see PEMA website for identified affected areas at www.pema.state.pa.us.

To receive these duplicate and replacement products at no cost, flood victims must complete a Form MV FLOOD. Forms are also available at Disaster Recovery Centers. Customers will be given a choice of visiting the nearest driver license center for duplicate driver's licenses and/or identification cards, driver license or photo identification camera cards and learner's permits, or having support personnel at the Disaster Response Centers fax the completed request to PennDOT for processing and mailing to the address they specify. Requests for duplicate or replacement motor vehicle products - duplicate vehicle titles, duplicate registration cards, replacement license plates and stickers, and replacement person with disability placards - will be faxed to PennDOT for processing and mailed to the customer.
