Senate Majority Policy Committee Report on School Safety

Attached is the Senate Majority Policy Committee’s report on school safety in Pennsylvania. The committee held 10 separate roundtable discussions at the request of members of our caucus over the summer and fall.

The report covers many of the issues that were discussed at our roundtables. Some of the topics of discussion included the significant funding that was included in the state budget for school safety this year, recently enacted legislation, pending legislation that will need to be reintroduced next session, and new ideas and recommendations from the dozens of stakeholders who participated in our public discussions.

I hope you and your staff find the report helpful as we seek to build on the reforms enacted in the 2017-18 session.

Again, many thanks to Senators Aument, Bartolotta, Brooks, Browne, Corman, Folmer, Langerholc, Martin, McGarrigle, Mensch, Rafferty and Yaw for hosting the Senate Majority Policy Committee for these important conversations and to Senator Regan for his guidance throughout this process.
