House panel approves South Heidelberg sewer easement

HARRISBURG – The House State Government Committee approved legislation today that would convey a permanent sanitary sewer easement in South Heidelberg Township, according to Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks).

Senate Bill 1022 would grant a permanent sewer easement and a temporary construction easement in South Heidelberg Township to run a sewer line through Wernersville State Hospital grounds. The project is expected to reduce water infiltration into the old hospital lines and save township taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The legislation was sent to the full House of Representatives for consideration.

“The goal is to update local sewer infrastructure with the minimum amount of disruption to the local community and lowest cost to taxpayers,” Argall said. “This approach allows the township to complete the project in the most economical way possible.”

The Senate unanimously approved Senate Bill 1022 in December.
