Argall supporting measure to increase security screening of Syrian refugees

HARRISBURG – Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) is cosponsoring a measure that would direct the governor to halt accepting Syrian refugees into Pennsylvania until the federal government establishes a protocol for screening incoming refugees.

“We are at a crossroads of national security and humanitarian efforts as it relates to assisting refugees. The most important duty for our governor is to protect Pennsylvanians first and foremost. It is in the best interest of Pennsylvania that we receive directions on how to properly screen incoming Syrian refugees to ensure that we do not jeopardize the lives of innocent Pennsylvanians.”

The forthcoming resolution, sponsored by Senator John Rafferty (R-Berks/Chester/Montgomery), will direct Gov. Wolf to wait for the federal government to establish a vetting process for incoming Syrian refugees.
