HARRISBURG – This month’s local TV report by Senator David G. Argall (R-29) features a recent visit to the state Capitol by fourth grade students from Tilden Elementary School in the Hamburg Area School District.
Argall explained his usual routine while working in Harrisburg to the students, as well as new laws the legislature passed that the students may understand, including mandatory bicycle helmets for children under the age of 12.
“I like asking the students about laws that impact their lives,” Argall said. “They can usually list a handful of state laws impacting their lives, demonstrating how informed they are on current events. They offer some great suggestions on how to make Pennsylvania a safer place for future generations.”
Argall discusses some of the recently debated bills that came before the legislature, including motorcycle helmets and texting while driving, among others. He said that the opportunity would not have been possible without the teachers and administrators who put the visit together.
“The opportunity to visit the state Capitol is a great learning experience for our children where it brings their social study textbooks to life.”
